Moodle Learning Management System is maintained and upgraded from time to time to support the teaching and learning activities of both teaching staff and students. With the introduction of various new features, the existing 2.7 version will be upgraded to 3.1 version and will be effective in late July 2017. Below are some major changes in Moodle 3.1 and highlighted features for reference.
Major changes in Moodle 3.1
The plugin “Quickmail” will no longer be supported in Moodle 3.1, and will be replaced by a new plugin “My Mail”.
The new feature “Pinned Discussions” is adopted to allow teachers to pin any important discussion threads to the top of the discussion forum for easy reference.
Moodle Mobile App
The Moodle Mobile App can enhance student learning by allowing students to access to Moodle anytime and anywhere using their mobile devices. It allows students to post in Forum, attempt the Quiz, edit in Wiki, vote in Choice or submit Moodle Assignment directly on the App.
Teachers will be able to create Choice with multiple answers, which allows students to select more than one choice.
Assignment grading interface
Assignment grading interface is improved as one-page mode which saves a lot of time for teachers while grading the assignments.
Easily restore deleted course content
Recycle Bin is equipped to allow teachers to easily restore the course items, such as resource or activity, that are accidentally deleted.
Course section name editing
Teachers can inline edit the course section/topic name by clicking the edit button without leaving the course page.
Download "Folder" as a Zip
Teachers can display several files together in a “Folder”. It is time-saving for users to bulk download all files within a folder as a zipped file at one shot rather than downloading the files one by one.
