This study recognized advantages of using multidimensional item response theory in computer-adaptive testing (CAT), such as providing more precise estimates and higher reliability and reducing test length when compared with unidimensional CAT. The author proposed a new method, which minimizing the error variance of the composite score with the optimized weight, and compared it with the four procedures. This paper detailed to readers the five procedures, but the results seemed not be clear for me. For example, Figures 1 and 2 suggested significantly differences among some selected procedures, but explanations/descriptions were not available in the paper. Although figures and tables did help understand the findings, it would be appreciated if more descriptions of the results were provided in the paper. In addition, the author did not explain why the proposed procedure did not work as well as expected, leaving much for readers to wonder the possibility to use the new procedure in their studies.
