The Stability of Individual Response Styles

The paper mainly explores the extent to which method bias may negatively affect the validity of longitudinal survey data. They modeled 4 response styles to capture the major directional biases in questionnaire responses: acquiescence, disacquiescence, midpoint, and extreme response style. There are 24 response style indicators, corresponding to 4 response styles (ARS, DRS, ERS, and MRS)2 waves and 3 parcels per wave (a, b, and c for Wave 1; d, e, and f for Wave 2) .All analyses were done with AMOS 7.0.

In a real situation, the first step is to make sure whether there are response styles, and then the proposed model may be used. There will be two stages, however how can we find the very number of the indicators, it is a question. If the researchers are concerned more about the estimates of the items, then it may increase the difficulty of the proposed model.

And the covariates explains only less than 10% of the variance, if we use other covariates, the results may be different. How to generalize the results?
